Das kleine Vorlese-WIR

Das kleine Vorlese-WIR

Animating an Opener

I had the incredible opportunity to animate the intro for the children's TV show Das kleine Vorlese-WIR (eng. "The little Reading-WE") with Etienne Heinrich.

"Das kleine Wir" is a book written and illustrated by Daniela Kunkel and published by the German book company Carlsen. In cooperation with the Stiftung Lesen, Carlsen released a series for little children in which the moderator reads aloud from a "Das kleine WIR" book and interacts with a "WIR" puppet.

I was given the illustrations and the animatic, and with feedback loops with Etienne and Stella from the motion design department at Carlsen, I animated the Opener, Outro, and a lower-third graphic.

Logo Animation

The first passes of how the logo should appear. The favorite was the first row, and with the suggestion for the logo to be behind the audiences heads.

This is the first pass for the final animation.

Logo Writing

Different exploration how the writing from the logo should be written out.

Should all words be written out at the same time? After one another? Or should they overlap?

We decided on the overlapping, so the animation wouldn't take too long, but also be slow enough for the younger viewers to read along.

Lower Third

Etienne designed the first pass of the lower third design, I finalized and animated it.
